ROBERTSON, John Sidney

It is with great sadness that the family of John Sidney Robertson announces his passing, on Wednesday, October 7, 2020, at the age of 85 years.

Sid will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years, Barbara Busch Robertson. He was a supportive and caring father to Michael, Jennifer Corry (Stephen) and Stephanie (David). Sid was proud of many things in his life, but he was most proud of being Poppy to his four grandsons, Nathan, Liam, Christopher and Benjamin. Sid will also be fondly remembered by his cousin Margaret, niece Judy, and nephew Harley.

Sidney was born, raised and passed away in the small town of Maria, Quebec on the Gaspé Peninsula. He returned to the house in which he was born after retiring from a 48 -year career in the aviation industry.

He spent many wonderful years living in Toronto, the West Island of Montreal and enjoying cottage life in St. Michel-des-Saints, Quebec.

Sidney loved his Toronto Maple Leafs, telling stories about growing up on the farm but he was most passionate about fishing for trout and salmon in the nearby rivers and streams including the Grand Cascapedia River.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at the Maria Hospital for their care and compassion.

Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada (alzheimer.ca)

A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.

Nous désirons souhaiter nos sincères condoléances à la famille de Monsieur Robert son, son épouse, enfants et petits-enfants. Nous avions rencontré Monsieur Robert son lorsqu’il est revenu s’installer à Maria, ce fut une belle rencontre et c’était beau de voir son enthousiasme afin de rénover la maison familiale . Il nous avait fait part de ses projets et des étoiles brillaient dans ses yeux....
Il était un gentil monsieur souriant et accueillant tellement content de revoir ses anciens voisins!

Nos plus sincères condoléances à toute votre famille. Nous pensons à Sidney comme à une personne dynamique et aimant la vie. Nous avons été les voisins de la famille de Lorne Robertson au temps ou ils recevaient les touristes dans leurs installations, nous leur fournissions des oeufs, des légumes et des fraises en saison. Monsieur Robertson venait quotidiennement à notre maison par le petit chemin de travers perfectionner son français et nous les enfants de Charles-Edouard Audet aimions à essayer de lui jouer des tours mais il avait l'eoil vif et déjouait souvent nos scénarios. Il était fier de la réussite de son fils Sydney.
