In memory of
Dennis Miller
December 31, 1942 – February 25, 2021 - 78 years old
DENNIS ELVIN MILLER
December 31, 1942 - February 25, 2021.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dennis Elvin Miller of Gaspe, Quebec (Sunnybank) who left us peacefully on February 25th, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 78.

Born in Gaspe, he was the son of the late Elvin Robert Miller and the late Iris Annie (Patterson) Miller. He was predeceased by his younger brother Gary Miller of Gaspe, and he is survived by his sister Frances (Miller) McVeigh and his brother-in-law Michael McVeigh of Bathurst, New Brunswick who were by his side until the end. He also leaves behind his nephew Christopher McVeigh of Vejle, Denmark, and niece Lisa McVeigh of Beresford, New Brunswick.

Ever the scholar, Dennis left his home in Murdochville in 1958 to complete grade 11 at Gaspe High, and then went off to Quebec City where he obtained his senior high school leaving certificate from Quebec High. In 1965 he obtained a chemical engineering degree from Queen’s University. Upon returning home, he became employed by Gaspesia Pulp and Paper in Chandler, Quebec where he stayed until his retirement. He then settled at the Miller family home in Sunnybank where he assisted in the care of his elderly mother.

Dennis was passionate about history, science, economics, sports, and many other subjects. If he didn’t know the answer, he would most certainly find out. (No one could ever beat him at a game of Trivia Pursuit.) He also had a keen interest in local history and family trees, and could trace bloodlines back many generations.

Dennis enjoyed downhill skiing and spent many evenings and weekends at Mont Bechervaise. He also loved watching hockey, and was a devote fan of the Montreal Canadiens.

Above all, Dennis was giving. He was very generous with his family (particularly his niece and nephew), and was equally giving to charities and organizations throughout the years.

He will be greatly missed.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. Donations in memory of Dennis may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the CHSLD Mgr Ross de Gaspé. Arrangements are in the care of Résidences Funéraires Valère Fortin Inc. (www.hgdivision.com), Gaspe.
