It is with our saddest hearts that we announce the passing of our much-loved Paul on December 31, 2025. He is joining Carol, the love of his life, who passed away on December 12, 2019.
Paul is survived by his mother Eileen Cripps, his sisters Theresa and Jo-Anne, his nephews Michael Duquette, Stacey DuBeau, Shanna Johnson, Lee DuBeau, and Sabrina DuBeau, and his many great-nieces and great-nephews. Paul was predeceased by his father Paul DuBeau and his grandparents Lily (née Woods) and George Cripps, and Josephine (née Lafferty) and Leo Paul DuBeau.
Paul worked as a carpenter and in later years kept Highland cows on his farm in the Gaspésie. Paul and Carol met in a bar while living on the West Island of Montreal. They lived in Rigaud for several years before fulfilling their dream of moving to the peaceful countryside of the Gaspésie. Paul loved to garden, especially his herbs. In his younger years, he loved working on cars and always had a yard full of vehicles. His last two purchases were a Harley and a tractor — such was Paul.
He was also an avid nature lover and especially loved spending time in the forest on his property. Missing Paul dearly is his cat Sh&tty, so named because as a kitten a little sneeze resulted in a surprise.
One of Paul’s lasting legacies is the role he played in helping vulnerable children and families in Bolivia through his work with the Help Bolivia Foundation. Paul was not someone who sought recognition, but he gave his time, energy, and heart to the cause. He believed deeply that every child deserved safety, dignity, and the chance for a better future. Through his work on the Foundation’s board, and through his personal commitment, Paul helped support nutrition, education, and community programs that continue to change lives in El Alto, Bolivia. This work meant a great deal to him, and it remains a living part of his legacy.
On his first trip to Bolivia, Paul also fulfilled another lifelong dream by traveling with his childhood friend Kristy to Machu Picchu — an experience that brought him great joy.
A Celebration of Life for both Paul and Carol will be held in the summer of 2026.
